Google remembers the life of British opera singer Amanda Aldridge (1866-1956). Born in Upper Norwood in south London, she was the the daughter of noted African-American actor Ira Aldridge who was the only black actor among the thirty-three of the English stage honoured with bronze plaques. During her life, Amanda worked as a concert singer, piano accompanist, and voice teacher as well as teaching and publishing her own songs. Read more.
