Mission 44, the brainchild of F1 motor racing champion Sir Lewis Hamilton was setup with the intention to transform lives and to act as a reminder that anyone can achieve their goals regardless of their ethnicity or background. The focus is to create opportunities for young people in the areas of motorsport and STEM. A new MSc Motorsport Scholarship and run by the Royal Academy of Engineering is now available. The New Cross Fire of 18 January 1981 in south-east London was a suspected racially-motivated arson attack at a house party that led to the deaths of 14 young people.
Since 2006, the generous support of Lewisham Council has allowed us to offer this bursary in memory of the victims of the New Cross Fire. Applications will be made available from August 14, 2026.

The first episode of Roots & Routes, a new podcast produced by alumnus Phil Gersh Brown, is now available online. Roots & Routes explores stories of heritage, identity, education, and life journeys through honest conversation and reflection. The initial episode was recorded in March 2026 at Glenmuir High in Clarendon, Jamaica.
